Description
Both Adia’s parents are alive; however, the father - an Imam (leader) in the mosque – has two wives and Adia’s mother is the least favorite of the two. He doesn’t help with Adia’s school expenses because he doesn’t value an education. Furthermore, without an education Adia could be married off before 18 years old. Adia’s mom is the sole caretaker. She raises money by selling vegetables for other people. Farmers give her the vegetables in the morning; she then moves from home to home selling them for a small profit. Adia is a very joyful child who is always eager to learn.
